Aisha Uzoechina set to wed the lawyer who handled her controversial case of converting to Islam

Over a year ago, Aisha (formerly known as Charity) Uzoechina, 26, made headlines with her story of conversion to Islam. Today, indications have emerged that the daughter of Pastor Raymond Uzoechina (Redeemed Christian Church of God) is to marry the very same lawyer who handled her controversial case in court, barrister Tijani.

Executive Director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) and a professor at the Lagos State University, Ishaq Akintola, has started the discussion at a forum moderated by MURIC. According to him, the wedding is due on Friday, May 2.

Aisha, a former student of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, embraced Islam in February 2013 and changed her first name. Her father did not take the news lightly, while she insisted her decision was voluntary, personal and well-thought out.
