Police Arrest Two Poly Students In Osun For Assaulting Officer

Police Command of Osun State has confirmed the arrest of two Ede Federal Polytechnic students for allegedly assaulting a police officer during a protest in the town.

According to NAN, the students of the institution staged a protest on April 12, 2014, Saturday, when one of their colleagues was crushed by an articulated vehicle.

The students, who trooped to the streets, started a confrontation with the police.

One of the officers was allegedly beaten up by the angry mob and was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

In the result of the clash, two of the students were arrested with dangerous weapons.

The police spokesperson added that the discovery of the weapons suggested their involvement in the fracas which also led to setting the articulated vehicle ablaze.

It has been also learnt that normalcy had since returned to the town of Ede.
