Sultan, CAN, Condemn Explosion At Nyanya Motor Park, FCT
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, condemned the explosion at Nyanya park, FCT, on April 14, 2014, Monday, called for collective efforts toward addressing insecurity in the country.
The sultan stated this during the Central Council meeting of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Kaduna.
He condemned the terrorist attack, commiserated with families of the victims and prayed to God to grant eternal rest to the deceased.
He further urged all the Nigerians to discard ethno-religious sentiments and strive toward promoting peaceful coexistence and harmony.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had also condemned the bomb blast, tagged it as inhuman action.
The National President of the Youth Wing of CAN, Pastor Simon Dolly, has revealed the position of the association in his interview to NAN in Abuja.
He urged the Federal Government to avoid a recurrence of such unfortunate incidence, saying “it is a threat to national unity”.
The pastor called on the FG to implement more proactive security measures to protect lives and property.
He added that “such bomb blasts can only stop if the sponsors are exposed and adequately punished”.
CAN member also advised the FG to curtail the influx of illegal immigrants in and around Abuja, adding that efforts needed to be done for their arrest and speedy repatriation.
It would be recalled that a car filled with explosives went off at the Nyanya Motor Park, FCT, at about 6.55am on April 14, 2014, Monday. At the time of filing the present report, the official death toll is 88 dead, over 200 injured.
