FRSC Takes Campaign To Motor Parks
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Sango-Ota unit, has commenced a public enlightenment campaign to reduce road accidents during the Easter celebration.
Speaking on Monday in Ota, the unit commander, Sunday Omafu, explained that the exercise would assist in checking the excesses of some road users.
"The command has begun to carry out intensive public enlightenment in all motors parks in Ota and its environs to let people know the danger of not properly managing their vehicles" Omafu said. "To let motorists to known the danger involved in running many trips with intent to make more money".
According to him, the corps national headquarters had designed a 'free safety check' during which forms were given to motorists to enable them ascertain the level of damages in their vehicles.
The unit commander said the check entailed stopping vehicles to inspect necessary requirements in a view to determine their defects as well as ensure that they were road worthy.
"They are carrying out pre-trip inspection before a vehicle is loaded by inspecting all facilities in the vehicle including tyres" he said. "It is also to let the passengers known the state of the vehicle before it leaves the park".
Omafu, however, revealed that the FRSC was combining the exercise with enforcement, adding that sanctions would be imposed on offenders who refused to abide by road regulations.
