My Kidney Is About To Collapse - Fraud Kingpin Tells Court

Fraud Kingpin, Fred Ajudua who some days ago was denied bail by a Lagos high court, Ikeja presided by Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye on Tuesday told a Lagos high court, Ikeja that his health is failing.

Ajudua who made this disclosure known through his lawyer, Olalekan Ojo said that he is a kidney patient and that his only surviving kidney is about to collapse.

The claim was contained in a motion on notice filed by his counsel, Olalekan Ojo seeking for Ajudua release on bail to enable him seek medical attention outside the prison walls.

Ajudua's lawyer, Olalekan Ojo at the resumed hearing of the case on Tuesday, told his court why his client should be granted bail so he could receive treatment from a specialist with Hi-tech medical equipment to manage his health effectively said.

“The medical facility at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison, where his health is seriously failing, cannot adequately meet his medical needs,” he said.

Ojo said the defendant would abide with the terms of the bail and would not tamper with the prosecution witnesses.

But EFCC lawyer, Saidu Atteh told the court that in the light of Ajudua’s new application, he would need more time to respond appropriately.

Justice Ipaye granted his request and adjourned the matter till May 9, 2014 for hearing.

Fred Ajudua who was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) over his kidney ailment last year is under trial in two separate courts over defrauding a Dutch businessman of $1.69 million (N270 million) in the first case and defrauding Nigeria’s ex-Army chief, Ishaya Bamaiyi, of $6 million (N960 million) in the second case.
