Boko Haram Insurgents Forcefully Recruit Young People In Borno

Fresh report by Daily Trust says that Boko Haram terrorists forcefully recruit young men from Borno villages to fight on the side of their sect.

It has been revealed after the yesterday's killing of 4 people  in Yasku village, Kaga LGA of the state.

It is alleged that the victims were killed because they refused to join the insurgents.

According to one of the residents, "some time ago, the insurgents had taken some of our children by force and left. This time, they came and there was no provocation in whatever form. The gunmen simply went to Yasku and shot dead the four harmless people."

Residents of Auno, Jakana, Mainok, Benisheik and other villages said in the last three weeks, the Boko Haram insurgents have stepped up violent campaign and forceful recruitment of young men.

Jakana local, who pleaded anonymity, said Boko Haram know how to change the thinking and psychology of young men.

"On many occasions, our children that were forcefully recruited have turned their backs against us and took part in attacking our villages."

Without providing the exact number of those taken away, the source lamented that the process continued.

A cleric in Mainok confirmed that many children had been recruited.

"The insurgents warned children here to seek knowledge from Quran only and not to read any other book. They also warned them not to go to farm. This is happening in all villages around and is really a disturbing trend because poverty and deprevation are increasing."

He also explained that because of losing their men, the terrorists are desperate about finding new manpower.

Still the locals do not rest on the laurels and track those responsible for recruiting.
