Japheth Omojuwa, Uche Briggs and Azeenarh are free

A renowned human rights lawyer and activist Japhet Omojunwua is free. The other members of the Nigerian Patriot group were released from the SSS HQ in Abuja as well in the evening of April 2, 2014, Wednesday.

Omojunwua, Uche Briggs and Azeenarh were pushed and dragged to the security agents’ waiting Hilux Patrol Van as they have been participating in a peaceful protest over the killings of several applicants during the bloody recruitment exercise of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

It would be added that the Nigerian Patriot members were set to deliver a coffin to the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, as part of the protest, and as a symbol to register their grievances over the untimely death of the applicants across the country.

The arrest sparked big controversy, was immediately tagged as 'unlawful' by such renowned people as FFK, Atiku Abubakar and El-Rufai.

It was the ex-FCT Minister, who monitored this development from the beginning to the very end, took this matter personally and shared this good news among the first.

It would be noted that the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) were a part of the incident. The other security agencies did not participate in the assault on the protesters.
