In a show of support for the ambition of Governor Idris Wada ahead of the November 21 Kogi governorship election, the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to visit the state today.
According to Breaking Times, the party has toured many parts of the state selling the candidacy of Wada to the Kogi people and showing a clear intention of retaining the Kogi state seat of power - Lugard House.
The turn out in the Okene rally is expected to be massive as supporters of the have been turning out en masse wherever the PDP stages its rallies.
Among the top hierarchy of the party expected to attend today's rally are Prince Deji Adeyanju, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Acting National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state, who doubles as the PDP Governors Forum chairman among other top officials of the party.
Ahead of the election, 22 various party candidates and their running mates have been named as contestants in the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Meanwhile, Wada has claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC), in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is delaying the bailout fund of the state despite being one of the first states to apply with full documentation for the federal government’s bailout fund.
