This has been noted by the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, on March 11, 2014, Tuesday.
He said the step became necessary to take full control of the country’s borders, in particular Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, which are under the emergency rule from May 2013.
Air border surveillance is an essential component of overall security. For instance, there are many foreign mercenaries among Boko Haram fighters, who enter and leave Nigerian territory without any obstacles.
The Minister admitted that the borders in the Northern part of the country remain porous.
However, he revealed that the Federal Government is currently working on a master plan to have complete control of the borders:
It would be noted that the land operation is in its active phase, as various security sources mentioned at the weekend that over 210 suspected Boko Haram fighters were killed, a number of camps destroyed in the past few days in Sambisa Forest.
