According to Yoruba myth, Oduduwa, the father of the Yoruba race ‘landed’ in Ife. The ancient town is the home of the Ooni of Ife who is considered the most powerful monarch in Yoruba land.
Ile Ife is an embodiment of history and culture. The town has maintained and kept standing some buildings and structures that reflect the historical and cultural significance that it is known for.
A visit to the town by Legit.ng revealed a sense of the town’s obstinate desire to hold on to culture and tradition and it is almost as if the town has not moved on with the trend of other towns.
