For 34 Years, My Wife Abandoned Me & Travelled Abroad - Husband Asks For Divorce

A 47-year-old marriage between Mr Johnson  Adebusuyi and wife, Aderemi Adebusuyi, who had been separated for 34 years has been dissolved by a Mushin Customary Court in Lagos State.

The court president, Alhaji Babatunde Ayeni, gave the ruling in Lagos.

“This judgment is based on the consented agreement from the respondent, Mrs Adebusuyi, through an electronic mail sent from the United States  on December 11, 2013.

“Also, the marriage had suffered 34 years of separation, so they are free to go their separate ways and co-habit, if they so desire,” Ayeni said.

The president also said that their 41-year-old daughter, Mrs Josephine Bosede, was of age to relate with either the petitioner or the respondent.

The petitioner, who filed the suit on December 5, 2013, said that he had been separated from his wife, who had lived abroad with their daughter, for over 34 years.

He also alleged that he had suffered negligence and lack of love from his wife, who went abroad with their daughter.

The respondent, who could not appear in court due to the distance, responded to the e-mail sent to her by the court, in respect of the petition.

She, however, responded by consenting to the dissolution of the marriage through the electronic mail she sent from abroad on December 11.
