Drug abuse is the root of all evil in Nigeria?
Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has attributed the growing crisis in some parts of the country to drug abuse.
According to Nyako, the Boko Haram insurgencies in the north, militancy being experienced in the South South, kidnapping in the South East and armed robbery being experienced in the South West were all fueled by hard drugs.
The Governor vowed that his administration would ensure that the routes through which drugs are being shipped into the state are blocked.
Nyako stated that in order to prevent the youths who are mostly addicted to drug, his government has floated various Skill acquisition and vocational training Centers to train jobless youth.
The Governor made this known while speaking to newsmen shortly after a recent public function in the state.
He noted that for any government to be successful in the war against crime, there should be a genuine effort in the provision of job opportunities which will take the minds of people off anti-social vices.
“For us to succeed in the war against crime, we should ensure that genuine efforts are been made towards the provision of job opportunities for all and sundry,” he added.
