Tambuwal Declared Winner Of Sokoto Guber Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Sokoto state and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has been declared the winner of the April 11 governorship election.

The state returning officer, Professor Abubakar Abdullahi Bagudu, made the declaration at 7.12pm at the Sultan Maccido Institute of Qua’ranic and General Studies, Sokoto, venue of the state collation centre for the exercise, Leadership reports.

Tambuwal scored 647, 609 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate Senator Abdallah Wali, who polled 269, 074 votes.

According to Bagudu, Tambuwal defeated the PDP candidate in all the 23 local government areas of the state.

He therefore declared Tambuwal as the winner of the April 11 governorship election in the state.

Bagudu stated: "Hon Tambuwal of the APC having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner of the April 11 governorship election in Sokoto state."
