Photos: PDP Significantly Welcomes Amaechi's Deputy

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has significantly welcomed back the Deputy Governor of Rivers state, Tele Ikuru.

Recall that Mr. Tele Ikuru announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress to the PDP yesterday March 22nd faulting his decision to leave the party because the APC is filled with rebels, insurgents and anarchists.

Mr. Ikuru who stayed loyal to Governor Amaechi by defecting with him to APC when Amaechi had a fallout with the leadership of APC has now returned back to PDP. This obviously made the PDP to have a huge welcome back party to celebrate his defection back 'home'. Here are photos from the welcome back ceremony:

Meanwhile, reacting to his deputy's defection, Governor Amaechi was reported to have said that it is regrettable that Mr. Ikuru has chosen the dishonorable path of bare faced lies and name-calling rather than the more honorable path of simply retracing his steps to where he has always been.

Mr Ikuru was first elected deputy governor to Celestine Omehia in 2007, before the duo was removed by the Supreme Court less than six months in office. When Mr. Amaechi was sworn in as governor, he retained Mr. Ikuru as his deputy and the duo fought against the interests and allies of the former governor of the state, Peter Odili.
