APC Chieftain, 7,000 Members Dump APC For PDP In Yobe

Alhaji Ibrahim Gero, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 7, 000 members of the party in Yobe joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC members' desire to join the opposing group was announced at a campaign rally on Monday in Karasuwa by their chieftain Alhaji Ibrahim Gero, who was also the former chairman of the council. "I want to use this medium to officially announce our resolution to withdraw our membership of APC and join PDP together with 7,000 members and supporters, " Gero said.

The decision to dump APC was taken by majority of the members as they are craving for better leadership that would address infrastructure deficits in Yobe state. Among other reasons for defection youth idleness that threatens peaceful coexistence in the state were named. Welcoming the defectors, Malam Sule Doguwa, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the State’s PDP, affirmed that the party had become stronger and united, and now has more chances to win the forthcoming general elections.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Alhaji Adamu Waziri, who attended the event promised to ensure transparency and accountability in governance, besides, he pledged to initiate peace forum to enable aggrieved members of the society express their grievances to avoid conflicts in the state. He also  urged PDP supporters to collect their Permanent Voters Cards, to enable them vote for the leadership that would better their living condition.
