Biafra Members Appeal To Jonathan, Gov Obiano, Others

The leadership of the ‘progressive members’ of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (P-MASSOB) have appealed to President Goodluck Jonatha and the governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano to release 22 of its members who are detention.

The 22 MASSOB members including two females and a cripple are said to have been in prisons in Awka and Onitsha since April, 2007 over alleged frivolous charge of treasonable felony.

The Biafran group in a statement issued in Awka by its National Director of Information, Uchenna Madu, for Progressive MASSOB made a passionate appeal to Jonathan, Gov Obiano, human rights and civil society organisations and other progressive Igbo leaders to intervene and effect the release of its members who have been abandoned in the prison to rot away and are in dire need of medical attention.

The group added that several court adjournments, transfer of judges, who want to establish justice and systematic delay of their trial have been the calculated method to frustrate their release at Federal High Court, Awka and the state High Court, Ogidi.
