INEC Won't Introduce 30,000 New Polling Units

The Independent National Electoral Commission gave up on the idea to establish additional 30,000 Polling Units following the clashes over distribution between the north and the south.

INEC chairman Attahiru Jega came under fire when he announced that 21,000 extra units would be created in the north and only 8,000 in all states in the south, explaining that the calculation was made based on the number of registered voters in the two regional blocks.

The pressure persisted. And it was made known today, November 11, that "the Commission took a decision to suspend the exercise until after the 2015 general elections".
