Kwara Condemns Attacks On Churches, Warns Troublemakers

Kwara State Government has condemned the attacks on churches, especially in Ilorin metropolis.

Arsonists on Tuesday set ablaze the buildings and other facilities of the Prayer, Faith and Miracle Ministry, at Asa Dam, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Suspected arsonists also burnt the Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel, on Airport Road, Ilorin, last December.

However, on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Tunji Moronfoye, condemned the attacks, saying the state government had directed the police to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.

The current administration in the state, he said, was committed to prosecuting anyone or group that incites violence or takes the law into their hands.

According to him, the state government will not tolerate any further acts of criminality and threats to public order.

Appealing to the people of the state to seek redress in court and to employ dialogue in resolving disputes, Moronfoye said there was no justification for the destruction of lives and property.

He noted that the state government would not allow troublemakers to distract the administration from its determined efforts to create economic prosperity for the people.
