APC Congress: Ganduje Mandates Kano Contestants Asked To Undergo Drug Test

  • Some APC members have been asked to undergo drug test before they can be elected into party positions
  • All contestants are to visit the state office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for their test
  • The government is reportedly doing this to rid the state of illicit substance among government officials

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state interested in taking any elective position in the state have ben asked to go for mandatory drug test.

This was disclosed by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, Leadership Newspaper ports.

According to him, all contestants are to visit the state office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) by 7:00am, starting from today (Tuesday, October 12) to the day of the closing of the screening exercise for the test.

He insisted that no contestant would be screened without undergoing the mandatory drug test.

In another report, a suspended All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has started making moves towards reconciling with his party ahead of the bye-election which has been scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 25.

Kofa has been observed making efforts at creating a reconnection between himself and the APC chairman in Kano state, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas.

In fact, there are reports that the lawmaker was recently bowing before Abbas at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport. Kofa has been said to be re-aligning himself with bigwigs of the APC in the state as well as the governor, in other to gain their support ahead of the forthcoming election.

Meanwhile, as part of activities to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state handed over his position to 14-year-old Atika Abubakar Yankaba for 20 minutes.

Atika, who is a junior secondary school 3 student, assumed office at 12pm and handed back to Governor Ganduje at 12:20pm.

An adorable photo of the teenager was shared on Instagram by @bbcnewspidgin. In the photo, the young girl could be seen smiling as she sat on the governor's seat.
