Femi Adesina to Nigerians: Security Situation Today Better Than 2015

A clear message has been sent to Nigerians. The message is this - The security situation is better than that of 2015.

This was the position of the special adviser to the president, Femi Adesina, Punch Newspaper reports.

According to him, the Muhammadu Buhari government has delivered quite well on its mandate to Nigerians.

He said that the administration’s performance was being assessed by an external, neutral body and so far, has been rated favourably.

He disclosed this on Monday, October 11, while speaking on the Channels Television programme, Politics Today.

He said:

“Yes, we have delivered on our promise to Nigerians. There are certain areas where the delivery is higher than in some areas. But for anybody to say it has been a complete failure, that will be a lie.
“In some areas, we may not have performed well like in other areas. There were three main promises and these promises were expanded into nine priority areas.
“One, we met an insecure country. We went at it and there was some stability and after a while, it exploded again and became hydra-headed. Before, the insurgency was the only issue, but now banditry, kidnapping and cultism came in. So, it’s a serious issue.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the sum of N13.3billion has been approved by Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari for the take-off of the community policing initiative across the nation.

Buhari made the disclosure on Monday, October 11, in Abuja, at the opening of a two-day Mid-Term Ministerial Performance Review Retreat.

In a statement made available on his official Facebook page, the president stated that the approval was part of measures to consolidate efforts aimed at enhancing security nationwide.

He went on to note that that the federal government has increased investments in arms, weapons and other necessary equipment as part of the efforts towards strengthening our national security. A Nigerian Police Trust Fund will be established to significantly improve funding for the Nigeria Police Force.

Hike in food prices: Buhari blames middlemen, says scarcity artificial

In another report, Legit.ng reported that middlemen are to blame for the high prices of food in the country, according to President Muhammadu Buhari.

During his nationwide broadcast to mark Nigeria's 61st Independence anniversary on Friday, October 1, the president said middlemen have created “artificial shortages” through the hoarding of essential commodities just to get excessive profit.
