Osun - The governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu has revealed why his Osun state counterpart, Adegboyega Oyetola should be re-elected for another term.

Akeredolu on Thursday, September 23, said that Osun would gain more from Oyetola if he is elected for another four years in office, The Punch reports.

“I believe this state will turn around totally because the state is in very good hands now and as you can see, change is what is happening in the state. So, I am sure that with this foundation and giving the governor another four years after this four years, the state will stand to gain a lot from him.”

I will be reelected

Recall that Oyetola expressed hope that he would be re-elected for another term, Nigerian Tribune added.

The governor made this known when asked if he could win another term in 2022 with the crises in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, God and the people he is ruling will determine his fate in the next governorship election in the state.

Earlier, Ademola Adeleke, a former senator and ex-governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2018 gubernatorial poll in Osun, declared interest to contest the next election in the state.

Ademola, who is a younger brother to the first civilian governor of the state, Isiaka Adeleke, declared his intention on Tuesday, September 7, in Osogbo, the capital of the state.

The former senator is believed to have enjoyed supports of youths across the 30 local government areas of the state.

I have no personal issue with my predecessor Aregbesola - Oyetola

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that amid speculations on the alleged rift with his predecessor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the governor of Osun state finally set the record straight.

It was reported that Oyetola said he has no problem with Aregbesola, who is now the minister of interior, except on the issue of governance.

The governor said this while reacting to reports of a rift between him and the minister, who he served as chief of staff for eight years when he was governor.
