FG Not Interested in Naming and Shaming Sponsors of Terrorism, Femi Adesina Declares
- The Nigerian federal government has revealed its true position over sponsors of terrorism in the country
- According to the presidential spokesman, the Nigerian government is more concerned about bringing them to justice
- Going further, he assured Nigerians that thorough investigation would be carried out before the suspects are arraigned
Nigerians who are expecting the federal government to name those behind Boko Haram might wait in vain. This follows a declaration by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, Punch Newspaper reports.
According to Adesina, Muhammadu Buhari's administration is not interested in naming and shaming sponsors of terrorism.
Adesina said the government would rather prosecute financiers of insurgency in court.

“Nigeria is not interested in naming and shaming anybody. Rather, it wants to bring them to justice."
Going further, he insisted that the government will investigate suspects before they are made to face trial.
He added that government agencies are working to get verifiable evidence against the suspects before their arraignment in court, The Cable added.
He said:
“You don’t first call people before the court and start looking for evidence against them later. No! The cases will be tied up before they appear in court."
Channels TV interview: Commodore Olawunmi honours DIA invitation
Recall that Commodore Kunle Olawunmi (rtd), was at the Abuja office of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) on Tuesday, August 31, after he was publicly invited by the agency.
Olawunmi was invited by the DIA to shed more light on his interview aired on Channels Television in which he stated that sponsors of insurgents and bandits were known to the federal government
He added that some of them are currently governors, senators, and serving ministers.
There are people in government sympathetic to terrorist groups
Legit.ng had reported on how Olawunmi, in the explosive interview, said there are people in government sympathetic to terrorist groups in the country.
He also said at the time he was in military intelligence, some of those people were arrested by his team.
Olawunmi further stated that some of the sponsors of terrorism are familiar faces in the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
Court fixes date to decide the fate of 400 suspects
Legit.ng had also reported that a Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed Friday, September 17, for the arraignment of 400 suspects accused of sponsoring terrorist activities in Nigeria.
The case will come up before Justice Anwuli Chikere.
Many of the suspects were said to be Bureau De Change operators who were allegedly facilitating the transfer of money to the terrorists
