Heavy Shooting as Suspected IPOB Militants Chase Students out of WAEC Exam Hall

Nkume, Imo - A report by Daily Trust indicates that students of Comprehensive Secondary School, Nkume in Njaba local government area of Imo state were stopped from taking their examination.

According to the report, gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday, September 13, stormed the school and started shooting sporadically into the air.

It was gathered that the attack is following the declaration of sit-at-home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Thpugh there are no reports of casualties, the gunmen, however, set ablaze motorcycles belonging to some of the staff and students.

IPOB's sit-at-home order: Governor Uzodimma tells Imo people what to do

Earlier, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo urged residents of the state to ignore the sit-at-home rumoured order by the proscribed IPOB.

The Imo state governor made the call while addressing the congregation after Church Service on Sunday, September 12, at the Government House Chapel, Owerri.

He called on residents to go about their normal businesses, adding that those behind the order had been identified and would soon be arrested and arraigned.

Meanwhile, the federal government has sent a strong message to separatists groups ahead of the Anambra gubernatorial election.

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (Rtd) gave the warning on Thursday, September 9, at a meeting of election stakeholders in Abuja.

Monguno who was represented by Sanusi Galadima spoke against the backdrop of some of the recent activities of IPOB in the southeast.
