COVID-19: Presidency Reveals When President Buhari Will Come Out of Isolation

The presidency has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari who recently returned from the United Kingdom would end his mandatory isolation on Wednesday, August 18.

According to The Sun, the disclosure was made known by the president’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu.

He stated that as part of the COVID-19- protocol measures, all documents coming to the president are screened and sanitised with specialised equipment before and after they reach him.

‘’The president is truly isolating as required following international travel.
“During this period, which ends on Wednesday, he will be attending to urgent and critical documents.’’

According to The Tribune, Shehu explained that the president had to self-isolate as a precautionary measure required of all international travellers arriving in Nigeria in case they had been exposed to COVID-19.

Presidency speaks on Buhari's visit to Bola Tinubu

In another news, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has cleared the air on President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, August 12, in London.

Adesina hinted that the visit was not a show of support for the former Lagos state governor ahead of the 2023 presidential election, The Punch reported.

The newspaper stated that Femi Adesina while speaking on Channels Television explained that Buhari’s visitation was a show of goodwill following reports on the APC chieftain’s health.

COVID-19: FG rules out imposing another lockdown

Meanwhile, the federal government has said it was not considering a lockdown despite the rising cases of COVID-19 infections across the country.

Channels TV reported that the minister of health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, said this on Thursday, August 12, at the weekly ministerial briefing held at the State House in Abuja.

The minister said the number of cases was not threatening enough for a lockdown to be considered.
