Buhari Begs World Leaders To Come and Help Africa Fight Terrorism

A message has been sent to world leaders concerning terrorism in Africa. The message which can be described as a A save our soul plea was issued by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He made the plea has in an article he penned in the Financial Times of London.

According to him, Africa has automatically become the new frontline of terror and global militancy following the fall of Kabul to the Taliban.

He said Africa alone can not defeat the monster. He insisted this would require more than the United States military aid but the entire world coming together for its sake.

The president in the article he expressed optimism that Africa would defeat the terrorist, “one highway, one rail link — and one job — at a time.”

His said:

Africa is the new frontline of global militancy. Yet few expect the outlay expended here to be as great as in Afghanistan."

Buhari in isolation

Meanwhile, Buhari has commenced isolation following his return from the United Kingdom (UK) in compliance with the COVID-19 travel guidelines.

The senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed the development. Shehu disclosed that some government officials who accompanied the president to the UK have also gone into isolation.

The presidential aide stated that the measure was in accordance with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines for international travel.

Also, Buhari expressed sadness and empathy over the loss of lives caused by devastating floods in Niger Republic and some Nigerian states.

In a message of condolence, Buhari mourned with President Mohammed Bazoum, the government and people of the neighbouring country over the havoc wreaked by the disaster. The message, posted on Facebook by Garba Shehu, a presidential media aide, noted that floods left many dead and affected a lot of homes.
