Drama as Wike Storms PDP BoT Meeting, Secondus Reacts, Video Emerges

Abuja - Whether he was invited or not, the presence of Governor Nyesom Wike at the Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja on Thursday, August 5, came as a huge surprise for some attendees.

Vanguard reports that Governor Wike on Thursday made a grand entrance into the hall of the PDP National Executive Council (NEC).

The Nation disclosed that Wike took his seat among the attendees while the PDP's national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, was delivering his opening speech.

In a video shared by the PDP on its official Facebook page, Secondus recognised Wike's presence and welcomed him.

In recent times, there have been unconfirmed reports that the Rivers governor is at odds with Secondus, while some go as far as alleging that the former is one of those plotting the latter's removal from office.

Moreover, a former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has denied claims that he recently visited Wike to solidify schemes that will bring about Secondus' sack.

PDP in emergency meeting over resignation of national officers

Meanwhile, the resignation of seven national leaders of the PDP on Tuesday, August 3, necessitated a closed-door talk among executive members of the opposition party. The meeting was being presided by Secondus.

Legit.ng had reported that the leadership crisis in the PDP deepened further on Tuesday, August 3, after seven national officers of the party resigned from their roles.

Chieftains addressed their resignation letters to the national secretary of the party. The PDP members alleged that they were being sidelined and unfairly treated by the national chairman.
