God Is a Member of the Ruling Party, Southeast APC Governor Declares

Abakaliki, Ebonyi state - Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state has said God is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and directs the affairs of the party.

He made the statement on Monday, August 2, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

The governor stated the chances of the southeast region producing Nigeria’s President under his APC would be determined by God.

He said:

''He is. He directs our affairs. He gives breath to every man so power belongs to God. Whatever thing we wish will come through only through God. If God says yes, no one can say no.”

However, Umahi who decamped from the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC last year, didn’t specify whether the APC has zoned its presidential slot to the southeast zone.

The Ebonyi governor also backed the APC’s caretaker arrangement, noting that the interim Chairman and Yobe State Governor, Mala Buni is not being paid.

Governor Abdullahi Sule calls for rotational presidency in Nigeria

Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, on Monday, August 2, called for the adoption of a rotational presidency in Nigeria ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The governor made this call during an interview on Channels Television, amid the rising demand that the presidential slot should be allocated to the south.

He also noted that he is a beneficiary of rotation as he emerged as the governor of Nasarawa state via a similar arrangement.

In another news, a socio-political organisation, Imo Progressives Alliance (IPA) has praised the leadership of the APC in Imo for the peaceful conduct of the ward congresses across the state.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng on Tuesday, August 3, the convener of the group, Comrade Chinyeaka Ndukwu expressed delight about the impressive turnout of party members to democratically elect their preferred officials.

According to the group, it was a clear affirmation of the acceptance level of the unique leadership style of the party leader and executive governor of the state, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
