Okowa Expresses Sorrow as he Mourns Veteran Nollywood Actress, Rachael Oniga

Delta state - Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has expressed sadness over the passing of veteran actress, Rachael Oniga. The state governor commiserated with the Oniga family, Urhobo nation and the Nollywood industry.
The renowned movie star hails from Eku in Ethiope East local government area of Delta.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng by his spokesman, Olisa Ifeajika, on Saturday, July 31, Okowa expressed shock at the passing of Oniga.

According to him, the deceased was a consummate actress whose demise was a huge loss to Delta and Nigeria.
The governor offered prayers to God, asking that the soul of the deceased be granted eternal rest. He also prayed that all who mourn the departed actress be comforted.

Nollywood actress Rachel Oniga passes on at age 64
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that another tragedy hit the Nollywood industry as one of their very best, Rachel passed away on July 30, at the age of 64.
The veteran actress had only a few days ago, still shot some scenes in a movie in Mowe Ogun state, before her demise on Friday night.
Her family who has since confirmed the news stated that the actress died after a battle with a heart-related illness.
Celebrities mourn Nollywood veteran
Meanwhile, Nigerian celebrities have taken to social media to express their shock and heartbreak following the death of a Nollywood veteran.
Bimbo Oshin in reaction to the news wrote: "Heaven has just gained yet another beautiful soul Aunty Rachel! Haa! I am speechless. Rest in peace Aunty This life sha!"
Busola Oke Oke attributed her success to the late actress whom she said was responsible for her breakthrough in the industry.
