Ex-CPC chairman: There was agreement Tinubu would become president after Buhari

For some Nigerians who are averse to the presidency of Bola Tinubu, this will be an irritating revelation.
The revelation is that there is an agreement that the former Lagos state governor will take from President Muhammadu Buhari when he completes his second term in office in 2023.

This was disclosed by Rufai Hanga, pioneer national chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Guardian Newspaper reports.
CPC was Buhari’s party before the merger with ACN and ANPP gave rise to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He saidthe “implied agreement” is an “open secret”, The Cable added.
He said:
“This is an open secret. There was an implied agreement. Even in law, there is an implied and expressed act. If something is expressed, there are no two ways about it. There was an implied agreement that he would take over. That is why he didn’t back out after the first tenure."
Legit.ng also reported that the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has told President Muhammadu Buhari that the present economic situation in the country is inflicting untold hardship on Nigerians.
The monarch raised the concern on Thursday, July 15 while receiving President Buhari at his palace. Buhari was in the ancient northern city to flag off the Kano-Kaduna rail-line and also commission some projects by the Kano state government.
Citing the high cost of food and consumables in the country, occasioned by hyperinflation, The Emir urged the Buhari-led administration to ease the economic crunch impoverishing the masses. He equally drew Buhari’s attention to security challenges across the country, urging the government to intensify efforts to restore peace.
Former Ogun state governor and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Olusegun Osoba, has revealed that the ruling party agreed on zoning during its merger stage.
According to Osoba, who was the chairman of the constitution drafting committee of the APC at the time, the gentlemen’s agreement was not drafted in the party's rules in order not to go against the fundamental rights of anyone to aspire to any office in the country.
The minister of works and housing, Babajide Fashola, recently called the attention of the APC leadership to the fact that there was a gentleman’s agreement on zoning between north and south. Fashola said the issue of zoning was more of a gentleman’s agreement in APC and it behooves all parties to honour it.
