2023 Election: Alapa Declares He Wants to Run for Benue South Senate Seat

Benue state - Rt. Hon. Nelson Alapa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared his intention to fly the party’s senatorial flag in 2023.

Alapa, who was the minority whip of the 6th House of Representatives while representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency of Benue state, made his ambition known to stakeholders and party leaders in the state recently, Leadership Newspaper reports.

A member of the National Working Committee of the APC who had served the party in various capacities, Alapa said he is the most qualified person to represent the people of Benue South at the upper legislative chamber, Hon Nelson Alapa Solidarity Movement added.

Going further, a Facebook post by Hon Nelson Alapa Solidarity Movement revealed that he stepped down from the gubernatorial race to ease the chances of Benue South in producing and projecting a consensus candidate among those aspiring for the office of governor in 2023.

EFCC arraigns BESIEC boss, eight others for alleged N500m fraud

In another report, the chairman, Benue state Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Dr. Loko Tersoo Joseph is in trouble over his involvement in fraudulent activities.

Joseph alongside eight other people have been arraigned over alleged financial fraud of N500 million, the EFCC posted on Facebook.

They were arraigned by the Makurdi zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before Justice Abdu Dogo of the Federal High Court in Makurdi, Benue state.

Those arraigned with him were Serki Mtomba Manaseh (secretary), Akange Akula(Treasurer) and five other members/commissioners, Abe Aboyi Augustine, Donald Kertyo, Agber Aondona Emmanuel, Sunday Agbaji, and Ekoja Daniel.

Benue govt demolishes two buildings belonging to most wanted kidnapper

In another report, the most wanted bandit and kidnapper in Benue state, Cephas Shekere aka Azonto will now be without two of his houses in Makurdi, the state capital.

This follows the decision of the state government to demolish two buildings allegedly belonging to him at separate locations in Makurdi.

The state's law on anti-kidnapping prescribed among others, demolition of any property used as kidnappers den and haven for other violent crime activities in the state.
