Cracks in Buhari's Support Committee as Organisation Suspends Akpabio, Gives Reason

Abuja - A report by Daily Trust has revealed that there are cracks in the All-Progressive Congress (APC) and Presidential Support Committee (PSC) as the organisation suspended its national coordinator Senator Godswill Akpabio.
According to the report, Gideon Sammani, the PSC founder and national facilitator, and Dr. Kailani Muhammad, the organisation’s director of media, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen on Saturday, June 26, Channels TV added.

The political support organization of President Muhammadu Buhari took disciplinary action against the minister for Niger Delta over what it described as poor leadership and inactivity.
Both Sammani and Muhammad maintained that Akpabio's suspension was carried out to ensure the survival and revitalisation of PSC.
The former Akwa Ibom state governor was suspended at the PSC “National General Meeting and Merit Award where he was slated to deliver a speech.
The executive committee said that Akpabio was undermining the progress of the organisation, which was the platform of his ministerial nomination and confirmation.
Sammani said it is regrettable that PSC was drifting due to failed leadership of the National Coordinator, adding that Akpabio abandoned the organisation and its members.

Cracks in APC over ‘open’ ticket ahead of 2023 polls
Earlier, there were reported cracks in the ruling APC over the party governors’ recent declaration that the 2023 presidential ticket is open to all members interested.
controversy is raging over the zoning of the party’s presidential ticket and chairmanship between the north and the south ahead of the 2023 presidential contest.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Kebbi state governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu, in a statement on Friday, May 21 declared that all party members from all zones were free to contest any position in the next general election.
