Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Gumi, Opens Up About DSS Invitation

Kaduna state - Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has faulted the Department of State Security (DSS) for quizzing him over recent comments he made about bandits.
The Nation reported that Gumi’s spokesman, Malam Tukur Mamu, in an interview with VOA Hausa, challenged the security service for summoning the cleric.

Mamu clarifies comments made by Gumi
Tukur Mamu argued that the cleric never accused the Nigerian military of colluding with bandits.
He said Gumi was referring to some bad eggs among security agents. The spokesperson stated that the statements against the cleric were inaccurate.

Osinbajo says FG making frantic efforts to end insecurity
Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the federal government is not resting on its oars in ensuring that the country is secured for the entire citizenry.
Osinbajo, in a statement issued by the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, office of the vice president, on Thursday, June 24, and seen by Legit.ng, said the recent supplementary budget sent to the National Assembly was to enhance the capacity of the military and other security agencies in the country.
The vice president also noted that the budget is part of the concerted efforts of the federal government to beef up its response to the nation's security challenges.
Governor Sani Bello blames foreigners for insecurity challenges in Nigeria
In another report, Amid the high level of insecurity in Niger, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has identified bandits responsible for terrorising the country.
The governor on Monday, June 21, while charging Nigerians to try their best not to make the criminals succeed claimed that most of the bandits are not Nigerians, Daily Trust reports
Bello who made the statement during his address to security agents comprising of military, police, civil defence and vigilantes explained that the bandits were hired to cause problems for Nigerians.
