FCT, Abuja - President Muhammadu Buhari has felicitated with Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, who is set to mark his 59th birthday on Friday, June 25.

The president's message was contained in a statement released and shared on Facebook by his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, on Thursday, June 24.

Buhari described Gbajabiamila as a visionary leader in recognition of the maturity and courage he has brought to Nigeria’s leadership.

He appreciated the lawmaker's selflessness and patriotism in broadening the scope of policies, taking into full consideration the voice of Nigerians.

The president also offered prayers for the speaker, asking the almighty God to grant him more years to keep serving Nigeria. He also prayed for good health and strength for the celebrant.

Buhari sends belated birthday message to Obasanjo

Earlier, President Buhari penned a sweet message to former President Olusegun Obasanjo as he marked his 84th birth anniversary.

However, the president's message comes a day after Obasanjo celebrated his birthday on Friday, March 5.

In a statement on Saturday, March 6, by Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the president, Buhari wished the former president good health and happiness.

Gbajabiamila identifies what APC needs to survive

Meanwhile, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to survive in Nigeria, there must be a deliberate and effective system of leadership recruitment to identify and prepare people, especially the youths to occupy the important offices of the party and government.

The speaker of the House of Representatives made the remark on Monday, June 21, at the 2021 Progressives Youth Conference of the APC in Abuja.

In a statement signed by Lanre Lasisi, his special adviser on media and publicity, and made available to Legit.ng, the speaker said this was the practice all over the world, especially in countries where democracy had developed over the years.
