Buhari Makes Fresh Appointment, Names Jime As Secretary of Nigerian Shippers Council

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Emmanuel Lyambee Jime as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC).

The News reports that Jime, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in law, brings his wealth of experience to the new role having distinguished himself in several public offices.

Legit.ng gathered that Jime was at a time managing director at the Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA).

He was also a two-term member of the House of representatives representing Makurdi/Guma federal constituency in Benue state between 2007 and 2015.

The new appointee was also the speaker of the Benue state House of Assembly from 1992 to 1993.

The appointment is for a renewable four-year tenure.

President Buhari appoints new secretary for EFCC

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that President Buhari appointed George Abang Ekpungu as the secretary of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for the tenure of five years.

It was reported that this was contained in a statement issued on Monday, June 21, by the president and posted on his Facebook page.

The president also appointed board members for the anti-graft commission from all the geo-political zones in the country except the southwest.

The board members and their zones are; Luqman Muhammad (south-south), Anumba Adaeze (southeast), Alhaji Kola Raheem Adesina (northcentral) and Alhaji Yahya Muhammad (northeast).

According to the president, the appointments are in line with section 2(1) and section 4 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Act, 2004.

First Lady gets two new aides

In a related report, Buhari approved the appointment of two new senior aides for the Office of the First Lady.

The special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, made this known in a statement on Monday, June 7.

He said the president approved the appointment of Dr. Rukayyatu Abdulkareem Gurin as the senior special assistant on administration and women affairs in the office of the First Lady.

The president also approved the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Kamal Abdurrahman as senior special assistant on health and development partners in the office of the First Lady.
