The ex-presidential aide said:

He stated that the perpetrators of the attacks were determined to turn the country into anarchy.

According to The Punch, Sumaila called on leaders in the southeast to publicly denounce the ongoing attacks by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

He said failure to do so would make them complicit in the act.
