Tension in Community as Unknown Gunmen Shoot Fulani Leader Dead

- Another day, another attack in the westcentral region of Nigeria as Kwara state becomes the lastest centre of violence

- Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday, June 2, reportedly killed a Fulani leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Hardo Buruku

- The attack which took place around midnight has caused panic in Lamba village, Asa local government area

Ilorin, Kwara state - Daily Trust reports that Alhaji Abdullahi Hardo Buruku, a Fulani leader has been shot by unknown gunmen in Lamba town, Asa local government area of Kwara state.

The deceased popularly known as Alhaji Malam lost his life after gunmen numbering about 30 stormed the town on Wednesday, June 2, around 12mid night shooting in the air, The Nation added.

A resident of the town speaking to the news publication said Buruku was shot on the spot. The death of the Fulan leader was confirmed by one of his sisters, Aina’u Hardo Buruku. According to her, Alhaji Malam was murdered in his bedroom.

Babawale Afolabi, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) state command confirmed the incident.

Until his death, Buruku the eldest son of the late Sarkin Fulani of Kwara, Alhaji Mu’azu Hardo Buruku was the chairman, Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria, Kwara state branch.

Gunmen murder PDP youth leader

Similarly, unknown gunmen on Tuesday, June 1, murdered the youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Oru-East local government area of Imo state, Kenneth Amukamara.

It was also gathered that the attackers torched Kenneth’s house and damaged vehicles belonging to his brother who was also a target but luckily escaped as he is a retired soldier.

Greg Nwadike, the leader of the PDP in the state, confirmed the mind-boggling tragedy in a statement.

Nigerian governor's aide killed

In another round of attack, unknown gunmen on Tuesday, June 1, killed a senior special assistant on security to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, AIG Christopher Dega (Rtd).

Diga who hailed from Katsina-Ala LGA of the state was shot in the chest several times on Tuesday in Jos, the capital of Plateau.
