Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold could make Gareth Southgate's final 26-man squad for Euro 2020 championship this summer.

The 22-year-old was initially snubbed when the Three Lions preliminary list was released on Tuesday, June 1.

However, with Mason Greenwood pulling out of the squad owing to a pre-existing injury, the wing-back can now be guaranteed a place in the team.

Alexander-Arnold is yet to impress the 50-year-old tactician with Manchester City's Kyle Walker, and Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier preferred ahead of him.

Daily Star reports that Trent's improvement under Jurgen Klopp may have played a huge role in the manager's decision to include him in the list of players that will prosecute the competition.

The publication added that the versatile defender could now dream of making more appearances for the English national team as they take on Croatia, Scotland, and the Czech Republic at Wembley this month.

Sky Sports earlier reported that a U-turn will see Alexander-Arnold attend the major tournament, which will have lenient rules on player swaps.

This tournament gives room for unlimited replacements of players before the first match in case of any serious injuries or illnesses - including Covid-19 scares.

Meanwhile, goalkeepers can be replaced during the competition if they are physically incapacitated even if the national side still has two fit goalkeepers at their disposal.

This summer's football event is billed to kick off on Friday, June 11.

Man United forward Mason Greenwood pulls out of England's Euro 2020 squad

Legit.ng earlier reported that England will miss the services of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood when the Euro 2020 kicks off this month.

The 19-year-old was among the 33 players Gareth Southgate named in his preliminary squad earlier this week.

Sources close to the Three Lions boss however claim that he might make the final squad once the list has been trimmed to 26.
