2023: I Will Run for President in 2023, Ex-deputy CBN Governor Moghalu Declares, Reveal Why

- Former deputy governor of CBN, Kingsley Moghalu, has revealed why he would re-contest in the coming general election

- Moghalu was a presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the 2019 elections after his exit from the apex bank

- According to him, it is high time a competent and compassionate candidate emerged to govern Nigeria, starting from 2023

Kingsley Moghalu, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and ex-presidential candidate, has declared his intention to run for the presidency in 2023.

Legit.ng reports that Moghalu, who was a presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party in 2019, made this known on Tuesday, June 1, via his Twitter page @MoghaluKingsley.

The former CBN chief had run alongside President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others during the 2019 presidential election.

The statement was titled, 2023: I will run because the people matter.

He tweeted:

“There is no hope out of our troubles until Nigeria faces the leadership question and looks for capacity, competence, and a compassionate heart for the suffering poor.”

Nigeria's restructuring is not negotiable

Moghalu also stated that inclusive national leadership and constitutional restructuring can curb the ongoing violence in the country.

He added:

"What is the value of a Nigerian life? We live daily in the shadow of terrorists. The economy is collapsing. Many families cannot afford the price of food.
“Only the emergence of a visionary, competent, and inclusive national leadership on the one hand, and the fundamental constitutional restructuring of Nigeria on the other, can arrest Nigeria’s ongoing and violent disintegration into a completely failed state.
“For the sake of the youths of our country, I intend, with all humility, to present myself again to Nigerians as a candidate for the Office of the president of the federal republic of Nigeria in the 2023 general elections.”

There may be a mega political movement ahead of 2023

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that some prominent leaders of thoughts under the aegis of the National Consultative Front (NCF) said they are set to launch a mega political movement aimed at rescuing the country.

It was reported that they said their first mission would be to mobilise towards having a new constitution that works for all which would serve as a basis for sponsoring credible candidates in the next election.

The leader maintained that they have set up special committees to coordinate activities relating to the attainment of their objectives.
