England will miss the services of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood when the Euro 2020 kicks off this month.

The 19-year-old was among the 33 players Gareth Southgate named in his preliminary squad earlier this week.

Sources close to the Three Lions boss however claim that he might make the final squad once the list has been trimmed to 26.

What England said after the player left the national team camp

"Manchester United have confirmed that Mason Greenwood has withdrawn from the provisional #ThreeLions squad due to an underlying injury. "Hope to see you back to full fitness soon, Mason!"

Greenwood enjoyed season-ending performances at Old Trafford after scoring six goals in his last eight Premier League matches.

This development according to the publication catches Southgate off-guard as he is now faced with the decision over who will replace the Man United forward in his team.

The 50-year-old manager has roughly two weeks to find another attacker who is versatile and clinical in front of goals before the tournament starts.

Greenwood was promoted to the Red Devils senior team in 2019 and has a deal with them until the summer of 2025. He has the potentials to reach the summit of his career at the club.
