French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also interested to bringing the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to Parc des Princes in the summer window.

However, former Juventus and Inter Milan striker Vieri was optimistic that Mourinho is interested in reuniting with Ronaldo at Roma.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Bobo TV Vieri categorically stated:

"(Jose) Mourinho wants to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Roma."

Vieri was quickly countered by another former Italy international Antonio Cassano as he responded on the same show:

"Mourinho didn't get on well with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. How can you think he's going to go to Roma?
"I don't know if it's because they have the same agent, Jorge Mendes, or a Portuguese sporting director, but how can you think Cristiano's going to Roma?"

Ronaldo finished the current campaign as the highest league goalscorer with 29 strikes and also won the Coppa Italia for the first time for Juventus in his third season.

The former Real Madrid man has now joined up with Portugal to defend their European title at the Euro 2020 in less than two weeks.
