How Number of out of School Children can be Reduced, Renowned Accountant

Princess Adenike Adeniran, a pioneer accountant says it appears that the federal government can not cope with the growing number of out-of-school children in the country.
The renowned stockbroker made the disclosure while speaking at the Imole Noble Educational Foundation (INEF) scholarship award ceremony on Thursday, May 27, in Lagos state.
She said that private individuals, companies, organisations should take over and lend their support as part of efforts to tackle the problem.

Princess Adeniran who is one of the board members of INEF went on to add that the private establishments should not only lend their support monetary-wise but offer their expertise as well so that the number of kids out of school can be reduced.
INEF was set up by late Alhaja Ramota Olatunde Adejonwo as a way to bring the number of children out of school down awards scholarships to indigent but brilliant students who have gained admission into public tertiary institutions.
The foundation on Thursday awarded 30 undergraduates from 100 level to 200 level in different higher institutions across the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria funds to support their education.
The event was attended by members of the board including Dame Gladys Olajumoke Simplice. Mrs Omosalewa Onilenla, and Chief Richard Chukwunenye Okafor.
Others present were parents of the awardees, family members of the prominent businesswoman.
Increasing number of out-of-school children
Recall that the federal government put the current number of out-of-school children in the country at 10 million.
This was disclosed on Thursday, March 18, by the minister of state for education, Emeka Nwajiuba, who said this implies an increase of 3,054,000 from the 6.946 million the figure was in 2020.
The minister of education, Adamu Adamu, had earlier said in January that the number of out-of-school children which was 10.1 million in 2019 had reduced to 6.946 million in 2020.

Special programme for out-of-school children
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts to tackle children out of school, announced an Alternate School Programme (ASP) as a special education initiative across the country.
The president said the implementation of the programme will be delivering a limited scope of subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Basic Sciences and Social Studies to kids who have limited access.
