NIMASA Boss to EFCC: Probe N1.5trillion Allegation Against Me

- NIMASA boss, Mr. Bashir Jamoh has asked the EFCC to investigate an allegation of fraud made against him

- The allegation was made by a US-based journalist via social media last weekend

- Jamoh has written to the anti-graft commission, saying he is open for scrutiny

The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Bashir Jamoh, has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to investigate an allegation of N1.5trillion fraud levelled against him by one Jackson Ude.

Ude, a Nigerian journalist based in the US, had on Saturday, May 22 tweeted that N1.5trillion was traced to Jamoh in a new generation bank.

However, on Tuesday, May 25, Jamoh sent a letter to the chairman of the EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, urging the anti-graft agency to probe the allegations against him.

Part of the letter read:

“I hereby request that a thorough and painstaking investigation be carried by your commission with a view to unravelling the truth or accuracy of the allegation.”

In a related development, Vanguard reports that a retiree with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Hamza Ibrahim Jamo has refuted claims associating his person with the NIMASA boss.

Jamo who retired from NNPC over 35 years ago revealed he had never met Dr. Jamoh before and had no relationship with him.

He added that certain individuals had sought to blackmail his person through phone calls with the assumption that he is Dr. Jamoh of NIMASA.

Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Tuesday, May 25 urged the federal government to explain to Nigerians how much loots it had recovered and what they were being used for.

He spoke in Sokoto yesterday at the zonal dialogue with stakeholders on the National Ethics and Integrity Policy, for the northwest zone.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that Malami, on Tuesday, May 25 appeared before the House of Representatives committee investigating the status of recovered loots.

Adejoro Adeogun, the chairman of the committee, accused Malami of being complicit in the funding of the budget of his office with money from the recovered loots.
