The Evening Standard reports Maguire is a major doubt for the clash as he is currently nursing an ankle ligament damage he sustained against Aston Villa.

The Englishman was expected to recover in time for the Villarreal encounter but sat out during the final pre-match training session on Tuesday night.

This development means either Axel Tuanzebe or Eric Bailly will partner with Victor Lindelof at the heart of defence, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw at fullback.

In goal, David de Gea is sure to start ahead of Dean Henderson having played a central role in United's Europa League campaign lately.

In midfield, Fred and McTominay could be paired together despite being slight doubts for the tie, with Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba, and Mason Greenwood assuming roles further ahead.

Pogba has a slight edge ahead of Marcus Rashford who seems to have lost his spark and could be forced to settle for a place on the bench.

Man Utd predicted lineup(4-2-3-1): De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay, Fred; Greenwood, Fernandes, Pogba; Cavani

Injury list: Jones, Martial

Doubts: Maguire, Fred, McTominay

Despite losing the Premier League title to rivals Man City, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be proud of his players for finishing the campaign unbeaten away from home.

Man United's win saw them ink their name in history books as they joined Arsenal in the exclusive group of clubs to end a campaign unbeaten away from home in the Premier League.

Reacting to matching their rivals' record, Solskjaer admitted he was proud of the achievement as he lauded his wards for getting the job done on the final day of the campaign.
