I've Lost My Dad, My Mum is a Poor Widow: Donate to Help Suliat Pay Her School Fees

Olayanju Suliat lost her father, a medical doctor, to a complicated illness in 2017. Ever since then, life has ceased to be the rosy same for her family of five solely relying on its patriarch who was the breadwinner.

The 25-year-old's father's passing was a deadly blow. It knocked at the time his protective presence was needed most, creating a huge lacuna that abruptly left the baton of three adult children's overwhelming responsibilities to a poor woman, her mother.

In an exclusive interview, Suliat told Legit.ng that her dad, Sulaimon Olayanju, gave up the ghost exactly one year after she finished her National Diploma (ND) from the Kwara State Polytechnic, Kwara state.

The death put a hold on her aspiration to immediately further her education. It was, however, in 2021 she took the courage to give it whatever it requires to be a graduate, juggling between jobs as an auxiliary nurse at a private hospital and wife. Suliat married in 2018.

She said:

"I finished ND (in Science Laboratory) in 2016, I was doing my Industrial Training (IT) when I lost my father. Since then all hope was lost as I tried many works to help me go back to school but they were enough."

I need money to further my education

Determined to give education another chance in her life despite obvious financial challenges, Suliat said she obtained a College of Agriculture, Igboora's form for her Higher National Diploma (HND).

But after paying all the preliminary charges and fees, efforts to pay her school fees and accommodation proved abortive, damping her hope of becoming a graduate.

To complement her worries, her family told her to "face it."

"I summoned courage this year that I will go for my HND no matter what it takes, hoping that my family will help but I was really disappointed yesterday when they told me to face it myself."
