Juventus players had to wait a little more on the pitch to confirm their place in next season's Champions League after defeating Bologna by 4-1 in the final game of the season.

Cristiano Ronaldo was not featured in the match but the Portuguese striker was among Juve players monitoring the result between Napoli and Verona which finished in a 1-1 draw.

Federico Chiesa opened the for the scoring Bianconeri while Alvaro Morata scored a brace and Adrien Rabiot was also among the scorers.

The former champions started the game on a positive note after Chiesa was at the right place at the right time to tuck home a rebounded shot from Morata to make it 1-0.

Morata had the easiest of headers after putting Rabiot's effort which hit the cross-bar beyond the goal-line to make it 2-0.

Dejan Kulusevski set up France international Rabiot to make it 3-0 in a well worked team play to put Andrea Pirlo's men in a commanding position.

Wojciech Szczesny was credited for a rare assist as his long pass was expertly controlled by Morata who completed his brace to make it 4-0.

Five minutes from time Riccardo Orsolini grabbed a consolation for Bologna as the match ended 4-1 in favour of Pirlo's side.

Elsewhere, Marco Davide Faraoni scored the equalizer for Verona in the 69th minute after Amir Rrahmani put Napoli ahead eight minutes earlier.

Th draw meant Genarro Gattuso's side finished in fifth place with 77 points while Juventus ended their disappointing campaign in Serie A's top four.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Victor Osimhen's Napoli are currently in the race for a Champions League spot for next season following their 2-0 win over Fiorentina in Serie A, Twitter.

The win took the Naples based side to fourth place ahead of Juventus whose chances of making to the elite competition is hanging in the balance.

Despite recording a 3-2 victory over winners Inter Milan at the Allianz Stadium, none of the three other teams including Atalanta, Napoli dropped points except AC Milan who were held to a 0-0 draw against Cagliari.
