Nigerian Striker Who Wants to Play for Super Eagles Receives Prestigious Award From Top German Giants

German Bundesliga club Union Berlin on Saturday night, May 22, celebrated Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi by giving him an award of excellence for his services to the club.

The German Bundesliga season has ended with Bayern Munich retaining the League title following their impressive results throughout the season.

Taiwo Awoniyi who joined Union Berlin on loan from Liverpool before the start of the season made his final appearance for the club against RB Leipzig coming in as a substitute.

Despite being out of action for the last two months, Taiwo Awoniyi was still able to play for Union Berlin on the last day of the season.

Awoniyi played 19 games for the German club and scored five goals as Union Berlin finished 7th on the final League standings.

In an award given to the Nigerian striker, Union Berlin thanked Taiwo Awoniyi for his time with them as they wished him good luck in future.

While speaking with Legit.ng on the just concluded season in the German Bundesliga, Taiwo Awoniyi explained that he will be traveling to Nigeria to see his family and also his Football Academy.

''To God be the glory and I want to thank everyone at Union Berlin for the support they gave me during my time with them as I wish the club success in coming season.
''I will be traveling to my state which is Kwara because my Academy has a 2-day tournament which was organized to expose Kwara players to the world starting from 29-30.
''Belgian FIFA agent will be going with me to Nigeria and it is after this tournament that I will know my next destination in football, but on a serious note, I want to play in England.''

Some clubs in the Premier League are already said to be interested in having the signature of Taiwo Awoniyi in the summer.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Nigerian and Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi expressed happiness about him getting UK work permit for the 2021/22 season after six years that he has been looking for it.

Taiwo Awoniyi started his football career on the streets of Ilorin in Kwara state and went through many difficulties before he succeeded as a footballer.

Gone are the days when Taiwo Awoniyi used to walk around the streets of Ilorin due to his poor background, today, the Liverpool striker is one of the richest Nigerian players.

Years back, Taiwo Awoniyi used the money meant for his JAMB form to enroll at Imperial Soccer Academy from where he was chosen to represent Nigeria at the Under 17 World Cup in Dubai which they won.
