He stated:

“If we are going to get out of insecurity, banditry, Boko Haram, kidnapping, and other criminalities, we will have a long gestation period of training and educating all Nigerian children.
“Education is the beginning of the life well-lived. God has given each and every one of us the innate ability.

He went on to note that there must be a paradigm shift in values both individually and nationally.

Obasanjo lamented that money and materialism have eroded other core values that brought Nigeria to the limelight in the past.

Meanwhile, the minister of state for education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, had revealed that despite the rising insecurity in Nigeria, all his children were in public school.

Nwajiuba's pronouncement was disclosed in a tweet by Lauretta Onochie, a presidential media aide, on Tuesday, April 20.
