John Obi Mikel has has been named Stoke City’s top ball winner for Stoke City for the 2020-2021 season, Complete Sports.

The former Nigerian international who recorded the highest recoveries for his team has been rewarded with the accolade.

The 34-year-old had 266 successful ball recoveries beating beating the likes of Rhys Norrington-Davies (182), Harry Souttar (174), James Chester (173) and Nick Powell (169).

The Trotters equaled their club record for clean sheets in a single season at the just concluded Championship campaign.

The club under Michael O'Neill recorded 22 clean sheets, their best record since the win promotion back into the English topflight division in 1979 and Mikel played 15 out of those games.

Stoke finished 15th on the table and will be spending another season in the Championships after being relegated during the 2017-18 season.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that John Obi Mikel has emerged as the richest Nigerian footballer topping the likes of Ahmed Musa, Obafemi Martins and Victor Moses.

Mikel is one of the best African midfielders and he is the most decorated Nigerian player ever thanks to all the titles he won while playing in the Premier League with Chelsea.

The father of twins is playing in the Championship with Stoke City after leaving the Chinese Super League.

Legit.ng also reported that Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has continued to find more ways to excite his lovely daughters after being spotted with two beautiful bicycles.

The 34-year-old midfielder whose current deal with Stoke City expires at the end of this season is currently with his family enjoying the pre-summer holidays.

Although the Nigeria international is unsure what the future holds for him, he is however unfazed with that challenge as he hopes to make every moment with his family count.
