Tension as Soldiers Reportedly Storm Oshodi in Lagos, Many Vehicles Destroyed

Many residents and passengers are currently stranded in Oshodi, Lagos state, as soldiers have taken over major places in the area, a report emerging from Daily Trust indicated.
The soldiers allegedly stormed the area on Thursday morning, May 20, to avenge the death of an officer of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) who was reportedly mobbed to death by suspected hoodlums.

Legit.ng gathers that many vehicles, especially commercial buses have been destroyed, while some persons were assaulted by the aggrieved soldiers.
It was also learnt some residents heading to work were trapped in the ensuing violence while students have fled back home.
Traders cleaning up their stores on the day of the weekly sanitation also fled just as some transporters abandoned their vehicles.
The spokesperson of the state's police command, Muyiwa Adejobi, said he was awaiting a report on the incident from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area, The Punch also reported.
In another report, robbers invaded 10 houses in Ifelodun, Kuburatu-Agbede, and other parts of the Ifako-Ijaiye local government area of Lagos state within the space of three days.
The incident has caused panic and residents now live in fear of the robbers returning for another raid.
Residents said about 15 armed men raided the vicinity around 1am, snatched a car belonging to a resident, and shot three persons attempting to stop their operations.

Meanwhile, the Lagos and Ogun state police commands have beefed up security in different parts of their respective states to avert any possible attack.
This followed a statement by the police commissioner in police, Hakeem Odumosu, during a security summit chaired by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Odumosu said the command was investigating threats by armed groups to attack soft targets in the commercial city.
Undercover police personnel have also been deployed in places hosting critical infrastructure and institutions, as well as areas with a high population of people from the eastern part of the country.
