Nigeria will clash with CONCACAF Gold Cup holders Mexico in a friendly at the famous Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in the State of California, United States of America on Saturday, 3rd July.

Latest development was confirmed by the Nigerian Football Federation through their media department.

The match which kicks off at 7.30pm LA time will be the sixth confrontation between the senior teams of both countries where four of which have ended in draws.

The only win in the series has gone to Mexico, when they trumped a US Gold Cup encounter in Dallas (State of Texas) 2-1 on 24th June, 1995. Jonathan Akpoborie scored Nigeria’s only goal.

After qualifying for the 2021 African Cup of Nations, Super Eagles will start their preparations for the World Cup qualifiers.

At the last World Cup in Russia, Nigeria failed to qualify from the group stages losing their last game against Argentina.

Argentina also failed to progress past the round of 16 where they lost against France who went on to win the championship beating Croatia in the final.

Meanwhile, Mexico will play three matches before their international friendly match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The likes of Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Etebo, Osimhen, Ekong, Balogun and Kelechi Iheanacho are expected to feature for Nigeria in the game against Mexico.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Ahmed Musa bagged an assist for Rabiu Ali goal on his debut for Kano Pillars during their 1-0 win over Adamawa United in a Nigeria Professional Football League game at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

With ten minutes left on the clock the Super Eagles captain set up Ali for the match-winner which kept Pillars in second position on the league table.

The northern based team are still on course for the league title as they are level on points with league leaders Akwa United but with an inferior goal-difference.

However, the highlight of the game was when Pillars captain handed Musa his arm-band to the former Leicester City forward while both sides lined up before kick off.
